Course Description
This is a 10-week (334 hour, 5 unit) basic law enforcement training program designed for Seasonal Law Enforcement Rangers preparing to work for the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as county and local parks. The instructors National Park Service Rangers and other are career professionals actively involved in the particular specialty they teach.
The program includes 35 subjects ranging from constitutional law, criminal law, laws of evidence, arrest, and search & seizure to defensive tactics, driving techniques, and firearms. A considerable amount of time is spent on practical, hands-on training. Real-life scenarios are presented in subjects as vehicle accident investigation, domestic violence, resource violations, driving under the influence, and crime scene management.

Costs California Resident Cost: $1068* Course costs include all required fees: registration, ammunition, driver training, handouts, and health fee. Parking fees are not included.
Out of State Resident Cost: $2018* Any person who has not been a California resident for one year prior to the first day of the semester in which he/she will attend is required to pay out-of-state fees.

Days and Hours Classes are conducted Tuesday through Saturday from 8 AM to 5 PM with additional evening and weekend sessions. Tests are given each week on the material covered during the week. Minimum Requirements There are no prerequisites for the Law Enforcement Ranger Training Program beyond a valid drivers license; however, there are specific qualifications for employment with the NPS. It is recommended that the student be in good physical condition. Physical conditioning testing will be conducted that will not be part of the course grade.

Housing There is no on-campus housing available. Accommodations are available at local motels and campgrounds. The new Training Center is located at 5743 Skylane Boulevard., Windsor, California 95492.
